Funky Buddha Yoga Hot House opened its doors in 2010, and quickly became one of the most popular hot yoga studios in the country.
Since then, Funky Buddha had been named Best of Grand rapids six consecutive times by On-the-Town, MLive and Grand Rapids Magazine, as well as a feature in Yoga Journal, all while working with Bevelwise as their marketing partner
In preparation for their 5-year anniversary, Funky Buddha came to us with the goal of creating a more mature and refined look to their overall brand. Working together, we polished an identity that displayed their maturity as a brand, but was cognitive of the roots they had previously established in the yoga community and their dedicated customers.
The website is a vital display of the brand, as it clearly communicates the style of Funky Buddha and its practice of Yoga. It also provides features easy-to-use functionality for learning about classes, signing up and find information for events and announcements.
Before, the back end of Funky Buddha’s website was not easily accessible for staff members. One major goal of the website rebuild was to create a dynamic back end to the CMS, making it a simple task for staff members to update information on the fly.
At the time of site design, over 60% of Funky Buddha’s traffic came from mobile devices. From this data, we created a unique graphic design for desktop users and the growing number of mobile users.
Through the pairing of a hand drawn elements and modern design aesthetics – including a new logo, revamped color palette, new typefaces, and updated imagery – we struck a perfect balance between “mature” and “funky”. Keeping the end user in mind, we created a design that would welcome new yogis into the studios, while still remaining familiar to their existing customer base. We then incorporated these designs into all aspects of the brand, including print marketing collateral, signage, social media, digital advertising and a new website built from the ground up.
